Undeclared majors

University Academic Advising works with students who are undecided about which major to pursue at Virginia Commonwealth University. We help undeclared students monitor their academic progress, plan their course schedules and decide which major is the best fit. Students must declare a major before reaching 60 credits.

Discovery Advising

The Discovery Advising program offers individual sessions, group advising, workshops and courses to help students explore VCU majors and related career opportunities. Our program empowers students to understand how their interests, abilities, values and goals can influence their choice of major.

Here is a list of resources that are particularly helpful for undeclared students as they explore their options and adjust to college-life at VCU. Undeclared & Discovery Student Checklist

Changing to an undeclared major

We assist students who want to change their major to undeclared while exploring other degree options. Students planning to transition to an undeclared major should complete the online Change of Major Form.
